Overview

Arguably our favorite anime of the Winter 2023 season, Farming Life in Another World brought us so much joy from a simple story of a lone guy building a home for himself in another isekai world. While there have been plenty of other farming anime in the past this one may be our favorite for its simplicity and allure. While simple by nature it was the show we wanted to come back to every week and also wanted to immediately revisit after the season ended. While other shows may be more complex Farming Life in Another World picked its lane and focused on executing its goal well.

Story

8/10

Let’s keep it simple here, this story revolves around a growing town and the simple interactions that happen between its residents. We love the simplicity here because it is done so excellently while keeping a focus on its overall goal. Unlike other more narratives that needlessly add more and more plot points without development, this show gives every additional element its time to help develop the overall world-building.

This does lead to a story that is much smaller in scale and quite honestly leaves us craving more. We love seeing this little town grow. Each moment feels refreshing, even as we revisit jokes. The laidback nature of everything makes this a pleasant show an easy rewatch.

Animation

8/10

At this point in anime, the sign of good animation feels like a conversation about the aesthetic and the quality of CGI and in-betweens. This show really succeeds in having reasonable quality control throughout the series with no real negatives. The food that is grown looks excellent, the scenery seems standard, and the action is fluid, what else can we say? Never are we distracted by the animation preventing us from staying connected to what is happening.

Pacing

9/10

Now the joke here is that the pacing of the show is as fast as corn grows. But in reality, this show has great that lets you really just enjoy what is happening and just chill. It has a nice steady pacing which allows you to really enjoy the interactions of all the characters and their various dynamics. You never get to a point where you feel like the show is dragging along or skipping important moments by going too fast.

This show as mentioned before really knows how to pick its lane and ride with it. If anything we wanted to have the series have 24 episodes rather than twelve. We would have loved to get more time with the characters and the other possible situations that may have come about.

Sound

8/10

If you haven’t already gotten the of the nature of this show then here is another reason it makes for such a great relaxing show to watch. The music and sounds show a relaxing tone that makes you feel warm and comfortable inside. The opening and closing are memorable relaxing numbers that really set the tone for the show. The soundtrack feels like something you could easily throw on in the background and enjoy on a relaxing Sunday.

Characters

9/10

Now for Farming Life in Another World, the characters make the show. The dynamics as mentioned before are the bread and butter of the show. Seeing how everyone interacts with each other and the environment is why you come to watch this show. We aren’t here to really learn about farming, we are here to see how to build a community. It is a refreshing thing to get such a dynamic group of characters this large that you get to enjoy without feeling as if people are being left out. Sure some characters are personified as a group with a headliner but that does not feel like a negative and really only an opportunity for the future. As mentioned before we want more time with all the characters when we get a new season, hopefully.

Conclusion

In conclusion, just take some time and watch Farming Life in Another World. It is a worthwhile watch that really is as refreshing as a nice cup of tea on a cold winter’s day. We are wanting more of this show as it is something that we easily would want to come back to over and over again.
